Grammy-Award Winner Will Downing Electrified Gala
(AUSTIN, Texas) — Grammy-Award winner Will Downing, performing from his new “Classique” release, showcased an evening to remember during Huston-Tillotson University’s Seventh Annual President’s MASKED Scholarship Gala. The gala was held on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 6 p.m. at the Sheraton Austin Hotel, 701 East 11th Street.
Downing, with his flirty, up-tempo style and mid-tempo ballads, is known as the “prince of sophisticated soul.” Dinner, dancing, and a silent auction rounded out the evening that also featured Starr Entertainment’s Rayvon with Platinum. The Mankind Assisting Students Kindle Educational Dreams (MASKED) event has generated more than one million dollars for the University and featured artists such as Regina Belle, Jennifer Holliday, Najee, and Pieces of a Dream. In addition, celebrity guest appearances from Earvin “Magic Johnson, Judge Mablean Ephriam, and Emmanuel Lewis have headlined the University’s signature event.
